Optimum Goods Placement LSYSTEM®.de Shelves

During the planning process, please, do consider the differentiation between bay load, i.e. the maximum load on a complete rack, and the individual shelf loads, which are in most cases higher than the allowed bay load. The correct placement of goods on the shelves is also very important as structural lever principles must be paid attention to. The load values exclusively refer to an even placement of goods on the shelves.

Please note:
  • Even placement of goods on shelves horizontally on one level.
  • Upper shelves never to be deeper than the depth of the fitted foot elements!
Please avoid:
  • Uneven placement of goods on shelves, vertically on one level. Concentrated load may cause breakage.
  • Please, take care of the correct detergent. Hot objects and permanent direct sunlight affect the surface.
  • Racks are no playground. Do not climb or ascend the racks. Moving a rack with load should be avoided.

Every production plant which manufactures LSYSTEM®.de shelf components, are at least certified by ISO 9001 and are monitored by means of a sophisticated quality assurance procedure, in order to meet our high quality demands. 

Moreover, LSYSTEM®.de system shelves have been tested by TÜV Rheinland LGA with regard to the load capacity, the surface quality and the prevention of accidents by sharp edges.

We prefer to have our products tested by the independent TÜV so that you can be sure of having purchased a quality product.

New products generally undergo this test, if they feature structural relevance.

Load Values / Structural Analysis

When developing new components, which are subject to essential structural relevance, we make use of our advanced calculation programs on CAD basis, in order to calculate the weight load data. The calculations are performed by an independent external structural engineer.

This enables us during the process of product development to eliminate weak points of the construction and to achieve the targeted weight load before we start production and have the initial series tested by the TÜV.

The analysis of the shelf supports for the new 25 mm LSYSTEM®.de shelf system is shown here as an example.

Surface information

LSYSTEM®.de follows the latest standard of environmental technology (HRN D.E2.105 dated Oct.8, 2001). Our powder contains no chlorine hydrocarbon or other heavy metals. LSYSTEM®.de powder coating guarantees optimum surface stability.

We take environmental protection very serious!

Brief Assembly Instruction LSYSTEM®.de Shelves

The components are assembled in the order of numbering, followed by the optional accessories.

The rotary discs of the foot elements (2) must be screwed out by approx. 2 mm. This facilitates the subsequent balancing of the rack. Column (1) is fixed to the foot element. A certain pressure is to be applied. The components must be firmly assembled.

Now the lower back panel (3) is inserted. The base shelf (4) can be fitted. There is no technical difference between the base shelf and the upper shelves. Following this procedure, several meters of racks should be assembled.

Finally, the rack must be adjusted by means of a spirit level. This is achieved by adjusting the rotary discs underneath the foot elements (2). Not till then, the remaining back / perforated panels (3), the shelves (4) with shelf supports (5), front panels (6) and accessory will be fitted.

  • Is every component adjusted and fitted correctly?
  • Is the rack correctly balanced?
  • Is the dimension between the axes correctly assembled? (slight pulling of the assembled racks helps)

The LSYSTEM®.de Shelf Components

Step 1 – Select the correct column 

The correct column is essential! We provide various dimensions from a depth of 60 cm to 110 mm. The column in combination with the foot element is the load bearing element. 

The bay load of each shelf element varies depending on the column dimensions, base shelf depths, shelf widths and the type of shelf support. The shelf itself is in most cases the least problem for the calculation. 

Bay load maximum excl. weight load of base shelf: 

Column 60 x 30 mm 250 kg 

Column 80 x 30 mm 400 kg 

Column 110 x 30 mm 600 kg 

Bay load maximum incl. weight load of base shelf: 

Column 60 x 30 mm 600 kg 

Column 80 x 30 mm 750 kg 

Column 110 x 30 mm 950 kg 

By using wall mountings the weight load and the overall stability can be improved. 

Step 2 – Determine the mean shelf depth 

The mean value between the base shelf (shelf resting on the foot elements) and the upper shelves determines the mean shelf depth (calculation: add the depth of shelves and divide by the number of shelves). 

When using a 8 cm high foot element, a safety deduction of 20 percent on the weight load is estimated 

Step 3 – The shelf supports / shelves 

Various types of shelf supports are available. The 2-hook-shelf support is the classic one. Further types, e.g. more solid designs are available on request. 

When using grit shelves, a safety deduction of 10 percent on the weight load is estimated.

Calculating the weight load

Application example:


Goods are placed on a wall rack up to 220 cm height. Dimensions between the axes of 100 cm exclusively are applied. Equipment: 1 shelf 37 cm, 3 shelves 47 cm as well as the base shelf with 57 cm are chosen. The weight load is required to be at its limit. A 110 mm column is used.


This way, the max. bay load amounts to 835 kg (mean shelf depth 47 cm = 520 kg + 315 kg weight load of base shelf. The shelves may be loaded with 465 kg in sum. They could, however, be loaded with 650 kg (3 x 180 + 110 kg). Therefore, the correct distribution of the load is essential so that the bay load is not exceeded. By using 2-hook-shelf supports this peculiar feature does not occur.


It is always “the weakest link in the chain” that must be taken note of and that determines the maximum weight load!

Warranty Standards LSYSTEM®.de

Our LSYSTEM®.de shelves are quality products from large-scale production, for which you are granted full guarantee.


Despite greatest care, minor impairments cannot be avoided during production. Depending on the choice of colour and at unfavourable lighting, weld spots may be visible on the surface. This is normal and no reason for complaint.


Further, we would like you to take into consideration that shelves do deform under load. Slight deflexions may occur. This is also normal. It is a basic principle of structural calculations that an object must be able to deform so that it does not break!

As long as the components are not out of dimensions between the centre lines and can be freely mounted, there is no reason for concern or complaint.
